Time away from work
Thermo Fisher offers various types of time off programs for your life outside of work. Vacation and sick time entitlements are subject to applicable employment standards legislation.
Vacation
Vacation time is accrued at the end of each month and must be used in the year it is accrued, except in cases where the legislated standard provides greater benefit. Our vacation policy also provides one floater day per year. It’s a personal day that you may use at any time during the year over and above any vacation, sick or other paid time off.
Company Holidays
National and provincial holidays are set by province for all colleagues. More information is available on the Colleague Service Center.
Sick Time
Colleagues are provided with an annual incidental paid sick leave entitlement of five days per calendar year. Additional information is available on the Colleague Service Center.
Bereavement Leave
In the event of the death of an immediate family member, you are eligible for up to five consecutive workdays off with pay. In the event of the death of a non-immediate family member, you are eligible for up to three consecutive workdays off with pay.
Jury Duty
Colleagues are paid for the duration of their required service.
Military Reservist Leave
Colleagues who are reservists are entitled to an unpaid, job-protected leave of absence when deployed to an operation (including any required pre- or post-deployment activities).
Flexible work arrangements
We offer colleagues in compatible roles the opportunity to pursue flexible schedule and work arrangements, in partnership with their manager.
